I bought the Nubuck Rockport Northfields for work. I wear a tie everyday, so it’s a business casual atmosphere. I had these shoes in black several years back and have basically compared each dress shoe to these. These Northfields are the gold standard. Once the initial break in period is over (common with most all shoes), they are substantial and extremely comfortable. You can’t go wrong with these shoes. To say they are awesome, cool, fantastic or superb is an understatement. They are simply put, amazing. And the Shipping at Zappos, are you kidding me? Overnight for free! Zappos made it an extremely pleasant experience.

I have purchased at least 7 or 8 pairs (I’ve lost count) of the Northfield shoes over the years and there’s no better casual shoe for me. No break-in time and no fatigue, whether I am walking a construction site, walking through a mall, or in the office. Very comfortable shoe. Quality of construction has been consistent too. I have tried other shoes and brands to get out of the rut, but I keep coming back to these. Now have all three color options.

Shoe is comfortable and semi-dressy. I used it to replace some regular black dress shoes. They are not as dressy as spit-shine leather, for sure, but in some cases one can get by with it. I seldom wear black shoes but these will get me through those times with comfort. Though I checked “felt true to width”…these were maybe just a touch wider. I say that because another pair of a different brand were ‘just a touch’ narrower…and I returned them. These: order your width and you’ll have every bit of that room.

I wear these in Espresso Nubuck for work in rotation. They look business enough with the right pants and jacket. The Northfields are pretty comfortable overall but are really great for walking. The shoe body is stiffer than I expected and the Espresso Nubuck is much lighter than the picture. The stock insoles feel fine, so I’m not replacing them. I’ve been a Rockport fan for many years, and the Northfields carry the tradition well. I’ll probably buy the black Northfields in the future for my more “formal” business shoe. Zappos shipped these the day after I ordered them and I received them the very next day. Another outstanding Zappos experience.

Have had 3 pairs of these before. The Nubuck looks great with business casual in the office. Best of all, these will keep your feet dry in rain or snow, and dirt cleans off with just a light brushing.

These shoes were everything as advertised, except for having a durable sole. They look good, had the right fit for my very wide feet, and were incredibly comfortable. However I’ve now owned them for a fraction of time I’ve owned other “durable” shoes, and they’re barely wearable. The sole has lost all tread. A significant section of the outsole on one of the heels is completely gone (about 1/2″ worn down). The sole readily absorbs water; why even make waterproof soles if they have soles that are basically foam sponges? The combined effect is that they are very slippery (to the point of being quite dangerous in the winter), unbalanced, and not at all waterproof. I really wish these had been better, but now I’m forced to revert to uglier, more durable shoes. Disclaimer: I walk a lot. Really, a lot. Which is why it’s disappointing to have such poor durability performance when the shoes are advertised like this: “Rubber outsole with lug design provides durability and grip on a variety of surfaces for maximum walkability.” That’s just a lie.

My husband has ordered these same shoes on the dark brown color for 3 years now. The color that showed up is not Dark Brown at all!! Returning immediately

I love these shoes. They’re very comfortable, and the leather doesn’t mark easily so they still look good after 8 weeks of frequent wearing. I’ve had a problem with brown shoes in that regard.
The one issue is the laces… see photo below. They are falling apart after less than 2 months. That’s kind of ridiculous.
