Bought these more for their looks than anything else; and they don’t disappoint! Color is a true brown (no hints of burgundy) which makes for a classic/vintage look – exactly what I was looking for. They remind me exactly of the boots my grandpa wore when I was a little kid.
Fit is definitely a little large – had to order three pairs before I found a good fit. Fortunately, this is a snap with Zappos (can’t beat free shipping both ways!). Haven’t walked too far in them yet to judge comfort, buy my initial impression is generally positive: They’re more comfortable than my oxfords but less comfortable than my sneakers. Leather, stitching, and soles seem good quality – they feel durable and with basic care should hold up for a long time.

These shoes look great and are super comfortable! Unfortunately, they tend to run a bit big, so definitely consider going down a half-size.

I find these quite comfortable. The leather is stiff enough that they will serve as a medium-distance walking or hiking boot, but the boots are not “heavy”. They will only get more and more comfortable as they age.
The dark brown on the toe is not a plus for me, but I assume it will get less and less pronounced with age. I really like these, at the price. And they look nice enough to wear with slightly dressier casual clothing.

I am replacing my Rockport shoes that I have been wearing for about 17 years. So, I have really high expectations. This is my first online shoe buying experience and it has been quite frustrating. Based on reviews, I ordered 1/2 size smaller than I normally wear but when the chukkas arrived, my feet were swimming in them. Zappos was great and issued a return label and exchanged my shoes. Yesterday (3/20) my shoes arrived and I noticed they had been worn because the leather already had the breaks across the toe area. Most importantly the new shoes were a size 9 and I could not get my feet in them. So, once again Zappos is sending me another pair to try again. Zappos has been great but the sizing issues are another thing. I am waiting to see if this new pair actually fits, if so I will be happy but if not I will order the Johnson & Murphy brand.

Love these shoes! They rubbed my ankles raw the first time I wore them, and I had to put bandaids on to avoid friction. I did that once more, and the third time I wore the shoes they were broken in! Now they look and feel great. Would definitely order again.

I read the reviews – took the hint and bought one half size down from my normal size. The fit is perfect. For those of you – like me, who have to wear arch supports you do not need to worry, the inserts in these shoes come out easily (no forcing at all) so that my custom inserts could go in – and – voila! No problems! Love them.

Amazingly comfortable. As many have noted, these truly are a size large. I normally wear a 14, these are 13 and perfect. At first I thought they might be a tad narrow but wore them around the house fora few hours and forgot I had them on, they were so comfortable. I’ve now been working in them for a couple of weeks and wouldn’t trade them. I’m in CA and temperatures have been in the 80’s and they’re great for work. Highly recommend them.

Nice boot but dressier than he wanted. Very similar to an existing pair he owns and does not need to replace. If he did, we would have kept these. Nice looking shoe for guys with high instep.

The reviews are correct about these shoes running a half size big. Thanks to the reviews I purchased the right size. The shoes look to be very well made and are a nice brown color. I have’nt wore them outside yet,but they seem to have a fair amount of support for my feet.

As others said, these run big, so I ordered my normal size and a half size smaller. The smaller pair fit very well, while the larger pair (my normal size) was too large. Besides that, these are extremely comfortable, nice looking, and very affordable – just what I was looking for. I’ve worn with both a suit and with jeans, so pretty versatile too. If they came in a black or dark gray, I might order a second pair.

I have never had this kind of trouble with Rockports. I even had this same style, just older, and thus a different color. First, it was extremely uncomfortable around the ankle. I think maybe the stiff tongue rubbed a nerve ending. I literally couldn’t walk in them for more than a few minutes. I tried to break them in though, since I knew my old pair was comfortable. It took weeks to break them in and when they finally did, they started squeaking. No amount of talcum powder would stop the squeak. I’ve never had such a bad experience with Rockport.

This is the second pair of these boots that I have purchased WITHIN A YEAR. Why? I accidentally soaked one of the boots I first purchased with coconut oil. I couldn’t get it out, so ended up just soaking the entire pair with the oil and they look great, just a lot darker brown. I liked the lighter tan look better though, so I bought another pair. I get more compliments on these boots than any other footwear I’ve ever purchased. Two things: they do run just a tiny bit bigger. I typically wear a 14, but these fit well as a 13. Also, the insoles are OK, but I pulled them out and put better ones in. Well made and a classically good look.

These are the best boots I have ever owned. I actually own two pair because I spilled coconut oil on one pair and ended up just dousing them so they are now super soft and dark brown. I get compliments on them frequently and from people from all walks of life. They’re my go-to foot ware 90% of the time.

Fit was perfect, shoes are comfortable and leather is good quality. One negative though, when I received them an eyelet was not fully seated. I took the shoe to a shoe repair store and found that the leather was torn and unable to be repaired. I contacted customer service and explained to them that I had already treated the shoes with a waterproofing spray, in light of that they are sending me a new pair (no charge) and told me to keep the damaged ones. Excellent customer service, fast, responsive, and easy (I used the text messaging customer service feature)

Straight out of the box these were so comfortable and fit great. I thought maybe they might be too long at first but they don’t feel long and no issues with walking. I have a wide for so sometimes I have to order a half size up to get a fit. These are on the money. Only thing is the right able is hitting the top of the ankle boot but it will soften up in time. I am able to wear thicker socks with these which adds to my comfort. Overall very happy.

These boots were perfect out of the box. No breaking in to do. I work on dirty job sites, so the suede hides the dirt well. These go perfect with jeans or even some semi-dressy pants.

I am a carpenter, and my practice for many years is to purchase a shoe like this that I can wear both on and off the job. Typically, i’ll get two pairs, wear one for work and one for dress. When the work shoe wears out, I’ll cycle the dress shoe into work and get a replacement dress shoe to carry on the cycle. All of which is apropos of nothing except that these are the first shoes to have nearly stopped the cycle. These shoes are so well made that they have never come apart, split or failed in any way. The only reason I’ve retired the last pair is that the soles finally gave out. Typically, because I put a lot of stress and flex on my shoes by getting up and down off my knees all day, the uppers will eventually split from the soles. Not these. They are comfortable, reasonably priced, and good-looking.

It took a few times of wearing them to break in, but now I never want to take them off. I always get complements on them too. I plan on getting another color.
